This self-guided audio walking tour introduces first-time visitors to central Belgrade through its grand hotels, landmark squares, elegant streets, and fortress views. It is ideal for travelers who enjoy history, architecture, and the atmosphere of a city best discovered on foot.
Your route begins at Hotel Moskva, one of Belgrade’s best-known historic buildings, with its striking green roof and richly decorated facade on Terazije. From there, you continue to Palace Albania, an early high-rise that still stands out on the skyline, then step into Republic Square, where the equestrian statue of Prince Michael and the National Theatre set the scene for the city’s public life. The walk then leads you past Hotel Majestic and into the pedestrian flow of Kneza Mihaila, lined with stately 19th-century buildings, shopfronts, and balconies, before turning onto Kralja Petra.
The tour ends at Kalemegdan and Belgrade Fortress, where stone walls, gates, and open parkland rise above the meeting of the Sava and Danube. Along the way, the most memorable moments include the contrast between old hotel glamour and busy city streets, the rhythm of Belgrade’s main promenade, and the wide river views from the fortress edge.
